cinemateca 18

the exit staircase is so, so, so vertiginous...if the lights were off you would certainly fall into the depths. the star had asked, where is the bottom? i can sense the bottom staring up from the last step of those stairs. the midnight feet walking past the glass doors, flashes of eastbound red and westbound white, the faint but insistent noise of alarm clocks the street vendor hasn't packed up yet, couples kissing. opposite, the fountain flows, padlocks keeping love dreams secured. i cover my eyes with my hair and walk blind into the pavement. someone calls out...you can't see a thing like that, child. i can't see, it's true, but i know it's all happening around me, this life.
