i recently said to someone: we all have problems, and it's all relative to your life. don't minimize or maximize your problems as compared to others, they are only big or small in the context of your own life.
and now i've heard this line in a bloody US sit-com and i'm such a cliche that i will probably vanish into a puff of smoke just after i finish this line

ReplyDeletethe other day, the originator of this particular chinese whisper (who gave it to this person first, who then gave it to me) was chatting to me in a pub, and not knowing i had already heard it, started telling me "in africa, there are no problems..."
ReplyDeleteoh, poor man, he'll not have a soul to tell by the time we're done spreading the message...
still, it's probably the best piece of advice i have been given and have given all my life!
